If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. The Skrulls are taking over. Marvel officially released a trailer on their site regarding the new “Secret Invasion” that’ll be taking place in the coming months. Having never really been a fan of the Skrulls and currently believing that New Avengers is in a downward spiral, this doesn’t look overly promising to me for a number of reasons:

1.) I Don’t Like Skrulls

What else is there to say? I’m a man who dislikes Skrulls and everything they’ve gotten their name put on. The only slight exception would probably be the invasion from Avengers Disassembled. Other than that, I hate em’.

2.) New Avengers Is Currently In A Downward Spiral

Don’t get me wrong, I love Bendis’ older work on this title as well as a number of other ones that he’s written but New Avengers must be at the bottom of his “good ideas” box because it’s fallen so far from where is once was, you can’t even recognize it. It probably doesn’t help that Leinil Francis Yu’s artwork seems to be getting worse by the issue. Not to say that he’s a bad artist, he just doesn’t belong on a title like this. I could see him doing artwork for Daredevil, Batman or another dark character but it has no place with New Avengers.

Doesn’t it seem like I keep saying the same thing? I’m pretty sure I went over the problems I’ve been having with New Avengers once or twice before. Sorry to all of you out there who are sick of hearing me talk about it. When they start getting good, I’ll have no reason to rag on them.

Maybe I’ll come up with something new for next time…

…maybe.

In the meantime, Secret Invasion will have to bring more to the plate than what we saw in the trailer. To be honest, this could determine the fate of New Avengers on my pull list. It all comes down to this.
