Dealing With A Waiting Period?

Time? Yeah, it's busted. The recent holidays have really made a mess of the recent release dates for several big titles. While this has been fixed in the US, those of us up here in Canada are forced to wait until Monday, if not longer, for our precious books. With nothing to read, I’ve come up with a couple other ways to keep myself busy until I get my hands on some comics and get down to some serious reading and reviewing of said comics.

Reading old, previously unread comics:
This one goes without saying. What better to do to prepare yourself for the new comics that are coming out than to read the comics that came before it? The only problem something like this brings to the situation is that, once you’ve read all your old comics, you’ll have nothing left to read…so you might have to go out and get some new-old comics.

Alphabetizing and reorganizing my collection:
Yesterday, I took a little bit of time out of my oh so busy schedule and reorganized my comics collection. With roughly 200-300 comics in my collection, the entire process took me a little over an hour which left me with a significantly high amount of time between then and when my precious picture books would be sitting comfortably in my hands. At least I can say that I got something done…right?

Catching up on a couple of my favorite web comics:
I’ve never been a really big fan of web comics, with the exception of a select few. A couple of my personal favorites, as I’ve discussed before, include Coozy For Hire, which is created by a couple of my friends from High School. Another one that I’ve gotten more and more interested in is Meet The Geeks which is another local comic about a group of friends who have all the different aspects of nerdism covered. Check out my blogroll if you’re interested in checking either of those comics out.

As I said earlier, everything should be back to normal by next Monday. That is, until New Years when everything gets all messed up again. I’m more than happy to wait a couple extra days for some quality comics. (Ie: Thor #5 and Captain Marvel #2)

What occupies your time while you wait for your comics?

I tend to read old comics, I recently purchased a box of 160 comics for $45 (~0.28 a comics), and I’m still working on bagging and boarding those. During the non-holiday periods I tend to get distracted by real life issues, and get backed up on my comics, and I use the holidays to get caught up on all that. I generally keep up to date on all my webcomics (of which I read probably close to 10), but occasionally I’ll go through and read them all from the beginning.

The holidays are always a nice time to get caught up on old comics. That’s a great deal you got on all those comics!

    Thanks for the comment Tim!

My comic book shop doesn’t open up until after a week of NYE, and I’m still waiting for some comics of mine that I didn’t have the time to get (which means I’ll be reading comics that are three or four weeks old).

But I love fixing up my comic collection. I go absolutely banana-crazy.
