Here come the trade paperbacks getting released in April this year from DC. Nothing special, but good opportunities to catch up if anyone’s missed out.
- Green Lantern fans will be happy to add this to their collection; you’ve got the Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps War and Tales of the Sinestro Corps.
- Superman: Last Son with 3D glasses included!
- The first volume of Countdown is also being released. Damn confusing if you ask me.
- The Question: Five Books of Blood by Greg Rucka is also a good read. C’mon, it’s Greg Rucka!
- Unfortunately, Green Arrow/Black Canary: The Wedding won’t be released, thanks to this list from ComicList.
On to the second piece of news, DC has released a list of 30 essential graphic novels that you must read. Yes, you! The list is pretty good. Lots of graphic novels that are good for catching up on, so there’s no surprise there, though these are the ones that I think you should avoid. Really.
- Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again: Don’t confuse this one with The Dark Knight Returns. This one is just… weird. It’s like a huge sudden drop. Kind of like the stock markets with this one.
- Superman/Batman: Public Enemies: Big no-no here. It certainly sounds like a great fight, but really, it’s not. The story is laughable, at best.
- Batman: Arkum Asylum: Okay, it’s written by Grant Morrison, but this isn’t one of his best works. Just don’t buy it.
All the others are either excellent or above average, in my opinion.
I’d also love to give some love to this guy who does photography, involving DC figurines. I can’t exactly repost his art because of his “All rights reserved” licence, so a link will have to do.
