Awful Artwork - Giraffe-Woman Gone Wild
Written March 18, 2008 by Mike Haynes

Liefled works his magic againThere’s no way in hell I was going to go about my week without showing off this little jewel. I stumbled upon this picture a while back and, after closing the browser window in disgust, hoped I’d never have to see it again. Now, we all get to bask in it’s awful glow.

For starters, I have no idea where this picture is from. Normally, I like to do at least a little bit of research before I make fun of something but in this case, that would be too much work. As for the problems with this picture, the character’s midsection is flexing in a direction that looks not only impossible but also very painful. As for her 43 foot long legs, those are all kinds of wrong.

I know that I said a couple of weeks ago that I’d be steering clear of Rob Liefeld’s work but I just can’t help myself. When something like this falls into my lap and screams “Look how terrible I am!!!”, I have to do something about it. In this case, I was forced to share it with you all and hope that, much like me, your respect for anything Liefeld-related goes flying out the window…if it hadn’t already.

I see what you mean here, the problem that I have with this is that, if you don’t pay attention to the horrific anatomy problems, it’s not badly drawn. Perhaps I say that because I am no artist, but seriously, it’s artistically sound, which just gives the impression that he just isn’t trying, or, even worse, IS trying to make it look ridiculous.

I find it difficult to look away from the anatomy problems since they’re so drastic. You can’t ignore legs that long.

I have to wonder if the legs are meant to be that long, like some kind of mutation.

Typical guy here, but the first thing I noticed is that her boobs are lopsided. And not in that natural, slightly asymmetrical way - One is perky and one is droopy.

    WTF, LIEFELD?!?!

  • Crackerbob says...

Well, droopy is an overstatement. The “droopy” one actually looks natural. The “perky” one looks like plastic surgery gone horribly wrong.

  • HAHAHA I just burst out laughing when I saw that. Oh man… that’s something else…

It’s kinda hard to describe this but on a closer look it kinda look like her spine curves out and that her legs are actually positioned behind her torso… Crackerbob is right too, her breasts are lopsided. And I think she is supposed to be, Enchantress, but I’m not 100% on that.

Wow. Just wow. Her legs are what, three time the length of her torso? That’s amazing.

The main issue I noticed was the abnormal curvature of the spine and pelvis, meaning that her legs are coming out 45 degrees off normal, which would require monsterous back muscles, which she doesn’t have, nor would the tendons fit through a ridiculously small waist.
