Marvel announced earlier this week that the duo of Loeb and Sale would be reuniting for another addition to their oh-so-popular color series in the form of Captain America: White. Loeb, who's been getting some purely negative feedback for not only his work destroying anything and everything Ultimates related but also his work on the current Hulk title, and Sale haven't touched their color series since the final installment of Hulk: Grey back in 2004. Which seems to have left them with some unfinished business.

Captain America: White

Captain America: White will, according to Marvel, tell the story of Steve Rogers, Captain America, and his familiar sidekick Bucky Barnes during the second world war. While it hasn't been given a specific release date, White will apparently be released later on this year.

Loeb is really the only one who has anything to lose in this case. Tim Sale has been a fan-favorite artist for a long time. Not to mention, it's much harder for an artist to destroy his career after a slew of great work like what he's produced in his time. With his career on a downward spiral, Loeb has many under the impression that working with Tim Sale could be the only thing to save his once promising career as many of their previous works, such as Spider-Man: Blue and Batman: The Long Halloween, are still regarded as some of the best comics ever published.

It's literally a make or break release for Loeb and, to be honest, I hope he's able to silence some of the critics. This is the same man that wrote great scripts like Batman: Hush and Dark Victory and it would really be a shame to see him fall off the map because of a couple bad runs.

Y’know, I’ve never thought Loeb was all that great anyways. I loved Long Halloween and a few of the other similar Bat ones. But it always seemed to be Sale that was carrying the weight on those and all his other titles. As for his Marvel work with Sale, I haven’t loved any of them. They’ve all looked “nice” and read like decent average stories. I’m a huge Cap fan and have actually been wondering when they’re gonna get around to this, so I’ll definitely check it out. But I’m not holding my breath for anything really earth shattering.
