I'll start off by saying that I have no idea who lives and who dies so don't bother trying to read this and gather any more information than what's already been released into the comic news sites. I did however hear some interesting information from Dan Didio, DC's Executive Editor, during an interview with Newsarama regarding the upcoming arc written by Grant Morrison which will be taking place in the Batman comics over the next couple months:

Batman R.I.P.

"Batman doesn't die...how 'bout that?"

Well then. I guess the Batman fans can sleep well tonight knowing that their hero will NOT be getting killed off in the upcoming issues. Hey, Grant Morrison, what do you have to say about Batman R.I.P.?

"People have killed characters in the past but to me, that kind of ends the story! I like to keep the story twisting and turning. So what I am doing is a fate worse than death. Things that no one would expect to happen to these guys at all..."

"...this is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman."

Oh, ok! Fair enough! Thanks Grant-

WHAT?!

So, from what I've gathered so far, Batman will not be dying but his days as Batman are numbered. That's a little bit disappointing to hear as a Batman fan. If it's someone else in the suit, it's just not the same. I'm not planning on jumping the gun and making any opinions before I read the actual comics but I'm finding it hard to not dislike this idea.

We'll all have to wait until Batman #676 to really understand and grasp the severity of these possible events. Until then, we cry.

Rapid Fire Reviews: April 25th, 2008
While there wasn't an overly large amount of things to get excited about this week, Secret Invasion moved right along with the latest issue of Mighty Avengers. Batman gets one issue closer to his apparent death. The Justice League...still suck...

Review - No Hero #0
The team of Warren Ellis and Juan Jose Ryp, fresh off of Black Summer, have now returned with their next saga for Avatar comics in the form of No Hero. The title has been getting quite a push from the...

Final Crisis: Who Lives? Who Dies?
Word on the internet is that either Aquaman and Martian Manhunter are currently on DC's chopping block since Batman is off limits. For those of you that don't know, apparently DC had plans in the works to kill off their...

Review - Animal Man: Deus Ex Machina Book Three
Animal Man is one of my favourite characters. I like his personality a lot – a happy-go-lucky-type kind of guy and the fact that his ability to go beyond the Fourth Wall makes him even more interesting to learn about....

Review - Wonder Woman #17
Ah, so DC has finished showcasing Gail Simone's first story arc. I'm going to give a lot of love to Gail right now. She knows how to write Wonder Woman, which is something I haven't felt since Greg Rucka had...

If it was anyone other than Grant Morrison, I’d probably be calling for blood.

But I’m willing to sit back and see where Morrison goes with this one. It better be good, though.

I agree. Judging by his past work, Morrison is probably one of the only people working at DC I’d trust with a story like this.

I really hope this turns out good.

I agree with you two. But if this really is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman, I don’t know if I could accept anyone else becoming the Bat.

I really really really hope they don’t kill off Bruce Wayne but it looks like they’re gonna do it! I remember when Bane broke Batman’s back in Knightfall, that’s the exact moment I sopped collecting comic books for awhile.

“Batman doesn’t die…how ’bout that?” FALSE ADVERTISING! I’M SUING.

Being serious here, he is one of the better - if not one of the best - writers out there, with REAL talent, so I’m glad he’s on board for this!
