Over the past couple of months, I’ve kicked around a bunch of different titles that have peeked my interest a little bit but have yet to make it onto my esteemed pull list. Those of you that have been around here for a while might remember when I was rambling about Wolverine’s solo title as well as Geoff Johns’ Green Lantern book. Well, both of those have successfully passed my very demanding and overly critical tests to become the newest titles on my list. Other than that, here’s how it breaks down:

- Amazing Spider-Man
- Mighty Avengers
- New Avengers
- Thor
- Thunderbolts
- Wolverine
- Detective Comics
- Booster Gold
- Green Lantern
- Justice League of America
- Justice Society of America
Aside from those specific titles, everything I pick up is completely random and usual selected on a “Hey, this comic is good. You should read it.” basis. That being said, there are a couple of comics running right now that have very good chances of becoming a part of my very select group of comics. Here’s some of the titles that are in the running, as well as a couple of reasons why they should and shouldn’t be there:

- Batman
- Young X-Men
- Invincible Iron Man
- Trinity
- Batman: Confidential
It’d be foolish for me to say that Morrison hadn’t gotten me somewhat intrigued with what he has planned inside the pages of Batman. My only problem is that I’m still waiting around for the big payoff. You know, what one moment that makes you realize that this book should have been on your pull list months ago. Hopefully Batman R.I.P. will be that moment.
I’ve given this comic so many chances, it’s not even funny. The first issue alone was reason enough to drop the title completely. The second issue, on the other hand, grab enough of my attention to keep me on for a couple issues. Guggenheim will have to pick things up a little bit more for me to stick around longer than just three or four issues.
I wasn’t too impressed with the first issue of this comic but the second one definitely picked things up. Having read the original series, now named Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., I was hoping this series would be a lot different. The opening issue didn’t exactly achieve that in my mind but the second issue showed me that Fraction’s stories will probably be much more action-packed than the Knaufs were when I was reading the title, which is certainly a good thing.
I’ve talked about this already. This series is failing on almost every level for me. Sloppy story, rushed artwork. If the first month doesn’t end on a high note, this title’s out of the running completely and will probably be avoid entirely.
This was a recommendation from a friend and is actually turning out to be a pretty entertaining story. While I thought that the second most recent issue, issue #17 for those of you that are wondering, was really just an excuse to get both Catwoman and Batgirl out of their clothes, it turned out that the issue was really fun to read. Was it the best writing or artwork I’d ever seen? Hardly. However, it was a fun comic and that would really be a nice change from most of the more serious, heavily story-driven comics currently on my list.
There are a couple of minor titles I’ve been kicking around but, for the most part, these are the nominees. Within the next couple of months, I’m sure I’ll have made up my mind on a new comic to add to my list. Then again, by that time, I’m sure I’ll have removed a couple of comics that were on my list previously.
It never really ends, does it?
Which comics are on your pull list? Any titles you’re thinking about adding or removing? Leave me a comment and let me hear what you’ve got on your plates right now!
